World Economic Forum on Africa 2006
Going for Growth
Cape Town, 31 May-2 June 2006
Africa's fortunes are on the turn. 2005 saw an unprecedented global push to use improved aid, debt relief and trade as a catalyst for growth.
Coupled with the resolve to level the global playing field comes the call to promote African business and improve the African investment climate, ultimately the only sustainable means to reduce poverty and boost growth on the continent.
Much of Africa is undergoing a remarkable transformation, yet resolute, concerted action; delivery on commitments; and more innovative partnerships are needed for Africa to embark on a sustainable growth path.
The 2006 Forum will again highlight best practices, draw lessons from best-performing companies and countries, propose practical solutions and provoke concerted action to engage business as a catalyst for change in Africa.
Why participate?
The Africa Economic Summit is the region's premier gathering of leaders from business, politics and civil society. Invited participants will have the opportunity to:
Actively shape key economic policies in Africa through outcome-oriented sessions and the referral of key recommendations to African decision-making bodies
Benefit from networking opportunities between African and international businesses and with leaders from civil society, media and academia
Contribute to the building of a strong community among key decision-makers across business and non-business constituencies
Develop a rigorous, integrated view of the state of Africa's leading economies and contribute to developing the strategic insight to improve Africa’s competitiveness
Engage in high-level dialogue in an informal atmosphere, within a close-knit African community comprising business, government, civil society and international business
Special focus will be given to the following topics:
What is the distinct competitive advantage of African countries?
What are regional and national development priorities for growth?
What opportunities exist for South-South collaboration; should Africa increasingly look east?
How should new pledges on malaria, infrastructure and AIDS be allocated?

Kenyans are hard working and determined people. Our major problem has been hegemonic forces which have been beyond the control of common man. However, this situation has been constantly challenged by those variants Kenyans who have sacrificed even their lives to see Kenyan join other self determining nations. This is not a privilege but a God given right.
